Preparing Your Child For Their Dental Visit

If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the our staff will explain all procedures, and answer any questions they have. Parents should try to casually introduce the visit as a new experience and keep from using any words that could cause unnecessary fear, such as “needle” or “drill.” We are experienced in dealing with children with anxiety and can explain treatment procedures in a positive and pleasant manner to avoid any anxious or negative feelings toward dentistry.

Your child’s initial exam we estimate to last one half hour. We find children do better with this time frame on their first visit. However remember we run on child time, not adult time- so it could last longer or be shorter- our goal is to make sure your child’s first visit is thorough, and comfortable for your child.
